A week long combined residency and masterclass with the Finnish photographer and video artist Elina Brotherus. The residency offers a quiet retreat for artists to concentrate on their work, free from distraction of daily life, surrounded by the beautiful archipelago of Åland Islands. During the residency Elina Brotherus is conducting a masterclass; giving tuition to groups and individuals, as workshops and lectures.

Nico Baumgarten & Edward Johansson: Artists’ Book Workshop

A 10-day artists’ book workshop with photographer and bookbinder Nico Baumgarten (DE) and graphic designer Edward Johansson (AX), in collaboration with Mariehamns tryckeri Ab and Ahvaland.

The practical workshop is divided into two parts. The first part takes place on a remote island in Föglö, where we will focus on the editing and sequencing of each participants book project. During the second part of the workshop we will move into an old school in Flaka, where we have access to a letterpress workshop, and continue with the practical production and finalisation of the books.

Mirari Residency is an invitational artist residency, located in the Åland islands, Finland. Established in 2015 by Øistein Sæthren Dahle and Karl Henrik Edlund, Mirari Residency offers a quiet retreat for committed artists to concentrate on their work, free from distraction of daily life, surrounded by beautiful archipelago. The main objectives of the Mirari Residency is to provide a framework for intuitive self-discovery, as well as to create the possibility for long lasting networks and collaborations between the invited artist.
